The PLU School of Nursing is adding a new specialty track in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), in response to the critical shortage of mental health providers in the South Puget Sound area and in the State of Washington. The new program can contribute to filling the need for high quality mental health providers and also fulfill the PLU mission of "educating students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership and careāfor other people, for their communities, and for the earth."
The PLU PMHNP program has strong support from the South Sound health care community and PLU looks forward to entering its first cohort of students in Summer of 2016. The PMHNP concentration will offer a three year full-time or a four year part-time program for nurses with a BSN. Nurses with a master's degree can complete the post-master's program in 2 to 3 years.
For more information about the program contact Dr. Teri Woo at wootm@plu.edu or go to www.plu.edu/dnp .
