New NPs Sought for Survey on Transition Into Practice

Posted over 7 years ago by Bob Smithing

The following survey is being conducted by Katie Bates, MSN, RN, a Doctor of Nursing Practice student at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.

Study participants should be recent graduates of an accredited program for nurse practitioner education (ARNP) within the past two years and currently working as a nurse practitioner.  Approximately 50 participants will be enrolled in this study.

The survey will ask about your experience as a new graduate nurse practitioner and the support you received in your first place of employment.  The purpose of this survey is to help the researcher understand the issue of transition to practice for new graduate nurse practitioners, and will be used to develop a recommendation for a primary care nurse practitioner residency program.

I do not anticipate that taking this survey will contain any significant risk or inconvenience to you other than a few moments of your time.  There is a potential for discomfort when reflecting on any challenging or difficult experiences you had as a new nurse practitioner.  It is estimated that this survey will take 10 minutes or less to complete.  Your participation is strictly voluntary and you may withdraw your participation at any time without penalty by closing the browser window.  All information collected will be used only for my research and will be kept confidential. There will be no connection to you specifically in the results or in future publication of the results.
