Long-Term Care Workshops

The purpose of the Long-Term Care Workshops is to implement the requirements of the budget proviso allotted to the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (commission) in Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 6032. The budget proviso directs the commission to convene and facilitate a workgroup to assess the need for nurses and nursing assistants in long-term care settings and to provide recommendations in a report to the Governor and Legislature by December 15, 2018. Recommendations must pertain to worker recruitment, training, and retention challenges for long-term care providers in the sectors of skilled nursing facilities, assisted-living facilities, and adult family homes. A series of six workshop meetings will convene during the summer of 2018 and all meetings are open to the public.
