New Opioid Prescribing Requirements for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners

The Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission filed a CR-103 on October 1, 2018, under WSR #18-20-086, adopting amendments and new sections to chapter 246-840 WAC. The adopted amendments and new sections establish requirements and standards for the prescribing of opioids by advanced registered nurse practitioners and certified registered nurse anesthetists, consistent with the directives of Engrossed Substitute House Bill (ESHB) 1427. The new requirements for opioid prescribing will become effective November 1, 2018.
