Update on ordering Diabetic Supplies for Medicaid Patients

During a meeting with representatives of the Health Care Authority last week, we learned diabetic supplies, including syringes, needles, test strips, lancets and meters, fall under the pharmacy benefit, not the home health benefit for Medicaid patients. An NPI number needs to be included with the order, but ARNP orders should cover these specific items.

If you have diabetic supplies declined or physician signatures required can you forward that information to me so we can keep track of what is happening? And please have patients fill out the attached letter so we can monitor the impact.
