ARNPs United Parity Reimbursement Bill Fails in the 2020 Session

Posted about 4 years ago by Louise Kaplan

ARNPs United of Washington State despite concerted lobbying efforts was unsuccessful in moving forward legislation for parity reimbursement for ARNPS.  Both HB 1433 and SB 5647 failed to receive a hearing in the House and Senate. We are disappointed and will be working with legislators to reintroduce the bills next year.

We are still working to support and monitor health care legislation important to ARNPs and our patients.

One bill that passed the Senate , SB 6676, will increase Medicaid reimbursement rates http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2019-20/Pdf/Bills/Senate%20Bills/6676-S.pdf?q=20200220191307

Several bills target lowering the cost of insulin such as SB 6087 http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2019-20/Pdf/Bills/Senate%20Bills/6087-S2.E.pdf?q=20200220192156 and SB 6113 http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2019-20/Pdf/Bills/Senate%20Bills/6113-S.pdf?q=20200220192235.

SB 6128 would extend Medicaid coverage to post-partum women from 60 days to 12 months http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2019-20/Pdf/Bills/Senate%20Bills/6128-S2.E.pdf?q=20200220192748

The 2020 legislative session is just over halfway completed with March 12, 2020, as the last scheduled day of the session.  Many legislators hold town halls in their district over the next weekend. Check to see if there is one scheduled in your district.

We will provide you with a session summary after the session ends. In the meantime, ARNPs United is working to represent you and will continue to advocate for parity reimbursement next year.  Please join or renew your membership to allow us to provide this valuable service to advocate for ARNPs and our patients.
