American Association of Nurse Practitioners 2020 State Award for Excellence Winners and 2021 Nominations are Open!

Posted about 5 years ago by Louise Kaplan

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners each year confers two awards doe excellence in Washington State. The NP State Award for Excellence is given annually to an individual NP in each state who has demonstrated excellence in NP clinical practice. The Advocate State Award for Excellence is given annually to an individual in each state who has made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of NPs.

The 2020 recipient of the NP State Award for Excellence is Jacqueline Brolsma who is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who works for Evergreen Treatment Services in Seattle.  Jacqueline has dedicated her career to working with people who experience substance use disorder.  She has been a leader in providing comprehensive, compassionate care, including medication treatment, for people with opioid use disorder for decades.

The 2020 Advocate State Award for Excellence is Justin Gill, a family nurse practitioner who has been a staunch advocate for ARNPs by using his extensive legislative and policy expertise to promote parity reimbursement legislation and other issues to advance ARNP practice in the state.  Justin has lead ARNPs United States legislative candidate endorsement process as well.

Congratulations to Jacqueline and Justin!

Nominations for the prestigious 2021 AANP State Award for Excellence are open. This is a great opportunity to nominate a deserving NP or NP advocate. To be considered for the 2021 awards, nominations must be submitted electronically to AANP on the official 2021 State Award Nomination Form no later than September 30, 2020. You must be a current individual AANP member to nominate a candidate for a state award; however, the candidate does not have to be an AANP member. Celebrate the 2020 award recipients and nominate an exceptional colleague for the 2021 awards — all in one location.
