The American Association of Nurse Practitioners each year confers two awards doe excellence in Washington State. The NP State Award for Excellence is given annually to an individual NP in each state who has demonstrated excellence in NP clinical practice. The Advocate State Award for Excellence is given annually to an individual in each state who has made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of NPs.
The 2020 recipient of the NP State Award for Excellence is Jacqueline Brolsma who is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who works for Evergreen Treatment Services in Seattle. Jacqueline has dedicated her career to working with people who experience substance use disorder. She has been a leader in providing comprehensive, compassionate care, including medication treatment, for people with opioid use disorder for decades.
The 2020 Advocate State Award for Excellence is Justin Gill, a family nurse practitioner who has been a staunch advocate for ARNPs by using his extensive legislative and policy expertise to promote parity reimbursement legislation and other issues to advance ARNP practice in the state. Justin has lead ARNPs United States legislative candidate endorsement process as well.
Congratulations to Jacqueline and Justin!
