Aids Training Rules Repeal

The Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) has repealed the AIDS education and training requirements that fall under the authority of the NCQAC, in support of the Engrossed Substitute House Bill (ESHB) 1551, modernizing the control of certain communicable diseases (chapter 76, Laws of 2020). The permanent rule will be effective on February 22, 2021. The AIDs education repeal had previously been waived by statute prior to this permanent change.

This rules update removes the 7-hour AIDS education and training requirement for registered nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, and nursing assistants obtaining initial registration, certification, or licensure.

Attached is the CR-103 Final Rule-Making order filed on January 22, 2021 as WSR# 21-04-016.
