The Yakima Neighborhood Health Nurse Practitioner Residency Program is a one-year full-time postgraduate training program that provides intensive training in a structured community health center environment.  The focus of the program is on the transition from new nurse practitioner to competent and confident primary care provider for individuals and families across the age spectrum in a primary care practice. It accomplishes this through a combination of dedicated preceptor clinics, in which the Resident builds his/her own patient panel under the guidance of an expert nurse practitioner, physician or physician assistant preceptor, specialty rotations in high volume/high burden areas consistently identified by new nurse practitioners as ones in which they seek greater depth of knowledge and skill, and didactic sessions on specific clinical or population problems. In addition, the Postgraduate NP Residency training program aims to provide new nurse practitioners with the organizational support and development to assist new NPs to become leaders within their practice teams and organizations as they progress in their careers.

Applications are due April 20, 2022.
