ARNPs United Statement on the killing of Alex Pretti, RN

Posted 2 days ago

ARNPs United of Washington State (AUWS) is deeply saddened by the killing of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse and American citizen who served his community with skill and professionalism. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues in nursing who are grieving this tragic loss.

This tragedy compels us to reflect on the values that define our shared humanity: compassion, dignity, and justice. Nursing is rooted in the belief that every life deserves respect and that care and understanding must extend beyond the walls of our hospitals into the fabric of our society.

Alex’s death, by video/photographic evidence and public accounts, occurred while he was exercising lawful rights recognized in our nation’s founding principles. As a community dedicated to the protection of life and the promotion of human rights, we call for truth, accountability, and meaningful reflection on how such an act could occur in a free and just society.

AUWS stands with all those mourning Alex’s death and reaffirms our unwavering commitment to the dignity of every person, healthcare professional or citizen, who seeks safety, justice, and peace.
