Overview

This presentation introduces healthcare professionals to Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) with a pediatric focus. Using a real-world case study, the talk walks through the complex diagnostic journey many children experience before receiving a proper POTS diagnosis. The session defines POTS, reviews autonomic nervous system physiology, and explores the pathophysiology, clinical features, comorbidities, and diagnostic criteria of the syndrome.

Cheryl Faber is the Director of Education for The Dysautonomia Project and is passionate about dysautonomia awareness. An accomplished educator with 30 years of experience in education and human resources, Cheryl oversees, develops, and facilitates training programs on POTS/dysautonomia to multiple audiences (physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and clinic staff). Cheryl has been with The Dysautonomia Project for over 10 years and is a member of the American Autonomic Society. Formerly, she was a Hillsborough County Public Schools high school teacher and corporate trainer/educator with BayCare Health System.
